I had the pleasure to pick up a Performa 640CD with DOS card for FREE! yesterday.
This thing had its RAM upgraded to the max: 52 MB on the logic board and 32 MB on the DOS card. I played Doom and Wolfenstein 3D in DOS mode for a while.
I have a 40 GB hard drive laying around, so I took out the stock 500 MB dirve and put in the 40 GB drive. I installed System 7.6.1 and PC Compatibility 1.6.4. And then from "PC Set Up" in Control Panel, I created a DOS virtual drive file.
Now when I switch to PC mode, the PC boots up to a "Non System Disk" message, which is expected since there's nothing on the virtual drive file.
I then inserted the DOS 6.2.2 install floppy disks. But the "PC" does not see the floppy disks. I aslo tried to insert the DOS floppy disks before lauching the "PC" and it made no diference. (Mac sees and mounts the floppy disk just fine).
So, the question is: how do I install DOS on this thing? What am I missing?
Thanks
