$52 on eBay

I had a look, these are the ROM versions I have that I think are for this card. I can test their compatibility with mine. Plus I need to check if the card is capable of updating its own ROM, or I need to use a ROM programmer.

Looking at the photo I shared of my card earlier, I think mine has firmware 1.2.3? Its a bit faded and hard to see.

Thought I'd post the finished machine.
All that's left is getting that power button glowing, other than that good to go.
I added a SATA PCI card and dropped a 250GB SATA HDD in the front ZIP slot.
I've got a stack of those from some old Dell's and this seemed like a good home.
The ZIP drive works, and I will keep it with the machine, but I wanted some more storage and I dislike the HDD mounting bracket on top of the PSU.
Now I can swap out quickly if I want to go back to stock or add some other SATA item in the ZIP slot.
The retro-bright was accomplished with a clear tub, about an inch of 12% H2O2, a UV light and a couple of sunny days.
Simply dropped a piece or two at a time in the tub, on a rack without submersing, put the clear lid on the tub and left them in front of a UV light at night, or in the sun during the day. Lots of flipping, but effective.
Thanks to Phipli for the help, advice and control panels/drivers for the video card.
Thanks too to ArmorAlley and Powerbase.
All in all a fun project and probably worth the $52. :)

If you don't use the bottom PCI slot and get 90° cables, you can put two disks in the very bottom of the case too. I have a disk down there in mine :)

Nice looking machine! What are the plans for it?

I was wondering what all that space was for!

Do you use your Zip drive?

Regarding use, I'm not sure yet. I've got a zoo full of old Macs and a couple of modern ones, but this one seems too functional for the display shelf. With all that storage, USB, FDD, Zip and CD, I was considering making it my library Mac for everything pre-OS X.

We'll see.

There should be a grey plastic bracket with holes for mounting two hard disks. The SATA connectors are longer than SCSI so it is a tight fit. You remove the grey bracket by removing... Two screws(?) from underneath the case, then sliding it to release it. Mount disks to it, then refit. Ideal is probably a 2.5" disk in an adapter that lets you have the connectors further away from the door.

I don't actually have one fitted, I have two CDROM drives fitted instead. There might be one in my 8600, I forget. I do use my external though, but usually on 68k macs.

Yeah, I was using my 9600 with a 1.5TB disk as a software archive until I moved house.
