3 things for $10 a piece. Which one should I grab?

but will it run? How do I tell if it has what it needs to?
yes, A/UX was supported on the II with PMMU. Look for a big square empty socket on the motherboard.

I don't need a 68030 upgrade, do I?
No, that's what I have which is basically a IIx motherboard in a II case.

Get the II. The printer is nice but they're a dime a dozen on the used market.

Yes, the toners for the 4/600s can be expensive. Office Max wanted over $100 for one. I bought one on eBay for $30 instead.

a Daystar Nubus accelerator / "XC68040RC33M" /Full 68040 proc running at 33mhz
8-o

You scored a Daystar PowerCache in a $5 job lot?

I FREAKING HATE YOU!!!!

the accelerator LOOKS like it will fit, but the connector is longer. Is this some sort of "extended" nubus, or is it a PDS? If either way, is there an adapter I can get so it will work
Nubus: 96 pins

PDS: 120 pins

Post a pic or scan of the Daystar card. Apart from that, see sig. I ain't helping you no more! [:(!] !]'> [xx(] ]'>

Oh, OK, one more bit o' help: for the love of god, do not power up that Mac with the Daystar "in" it, however you have managed to make it "fit"

I will have to scan the card later.

A quick google search indicates the powercache was an 030. Unless there was a 040 version. Maybe it's a Turbo 040? There are some labels of numbers on the back side, I am sure those tell what it is.

Wish I still had my LC III, I could use it in one of them, sans top case. It might work in my LC 520 I have...

if not, I could resell it...

They only work directly (without expensive adapters) on a IIci, even if it fits into something else it will fry once you turn the machine on.

Bunsen: For someone who complains so much about people not searching and then making posts, you sure make a lot of useless posts.

I suggest we have an "Ask Bunsen" forum so all the duplicated questions, asking the bleeding obvious, etc all get moved there.

We can then turn that forum into a Turing Test to see if Bunsen is real.

Well, it seems Bunsen does not like me :(

I did a search on these forums for both terms, but nothing came up. I ALWAYS search before I ask.

Oh well...

In any case, I tried booting the II from 3 separate 6.0.3 boot disks I have, and I got a smiling mac for a second, and then rejection. I tried the disks in my 540c, and they all mounted fine, so I have a bad disk drive. I should have known when the disks would not go into the drive easily, I had to take the top cover off to load them into it. So now I need to hunt down a replacement (I think I have some FDHD drives, which I have used as 800K only drives in the past just fine.), or I might rip the unit apart and clean it up a bit.

Until I can get it to boot, I will take the beastly 5.25" HD into another mac and attempt to put 7.5.3 on it, and update that to 7.5.5.
