Hey All -
I have a 12" PB G4 867 MHz that just stopped working one day. According to my cousin who was borrowing it long-term at the time, on Sunday everything was fine, and then on Monday it didn't work at all.
Symptoms:
-Plugging in the new-style AC adaptor makes the ring light up green, then amber.
-Pressing power leads to a chime, but then no HD spinning or screen activity. A slight popping / clicking sound can also be heard.
-The computer has power, as the Caps Lock light turns on and everything, but nothing else happens.
What could be wrong?
Things I've tried:
-Resetting Power Manager
-Resetting PRAM (doesn't seem to work - doesn't chime again)
-Unplugging everything for a long time and then trying again (tried 1 hr, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month)
-Swapping battery & PSU
Also, the optical drive makes a terrible clunking noise on startup, but that doesn't seem related.
Things I remember about this PB: When it was new, it ran HOT, and over the course of its life, it was dropped a few times and has the dents to show for it.
What do you guys think is wrong? Logic board? Any other quick fixes I've forgotten to try?
Thanks everyone!
