So I'd really like to make this project, but I don't have the ICs they use.
Would it be OK if I just direct wired it?
Also, wiring stuff/pinouts is not my strong suit. I might have more questions about wiring later.
Thanks in advance!
I have a 160MB 1993 Apple SCSI hard drive, and it used to work connected to the backplate of a drive enclosure. I removed the SCSI connectors from said back plate, and now the hard drive, connected to those connectors, will NOT spin up when I apply Molex power.
Does anybody know how to fix it...
It is a PowerBook 1400cs/166. It shows up as "Alternate Ethernet" but I cannot ping the machine, and Netscape gives me an error that it cannot create a socket. Any help?
I am using A2CLOUD as a hard drive for my Apple //c, and I wonder how to boot Apple II Desktop (which I have on the virtual drive) up. When I type
-DESKTOP.SYSTEM
it just loads a little, then crashes.
Edit: Also, how can you run AppleWorks?
I am trying to use ADTPro. When I type IN#<slot no.> <return> and then <ctrl-A> or <ctrl-I> nothing happens. I have reseated the chips, and tried slots 2 and 4. Any ideas?
Also, could I use audio bootstrapping (headphone jack only) to send the ADTPro serial client and...
I have a Retina MacBook Pro (15") and am trying to send disk images to my Apple //e (no Super Serial Card), but my Pro has no microphone port?
What should I do?
I have been eyeing an Apricorn super serial imager on ebay (I'll PM/post the link if it's OK with the mods) and I wonder if it would be good for ADTPro serial transfers.
So I got this Aluminium PowerBook G4 (A1106). I replaced the hard drive, and afterwards it turned on but displayed the folder with a question mark/Finder logo. I thought that perhaps I needed to press C to boot from the Leopard DVD in the drive, so I turned off the machine. I haven't been able...
Wondering if I could challenge myself to use only PowerPC for a week?
Things I do:
Watch YouTube (I'm thinking MacTubes/YouView)
Browse the Web
Edit video and upload it to YouTube (1080p HD)
Could I? If so, what computers (PowerBook G4 might be good)
First, please note that I have never used a 68020 or 68040.
The Mac OS can really be divided into three main groups:
System 6.0.x (1989-1991)
System 7.0.x/7.1.x (1991-1994)
System 7.5.x/7.6.x (1994-1997)
Mac OS 8.0/8.1 (1997/1998)
Now, for which OS...
So, I am thinking of getting a PowerBook 1400cs/166 off eBay to run Mac OS 7.5/7.6 (I'll probably use 7.6 since it's better on PPC) really fast.
But, everymac.com says that the 166MHz model only goes down to 8.0. But then...
So, I have a nice working Macintosh IIci running System 7.5.4 (yes, I have a copy). I am thinking of getting a colour printer off eBay. However, I also have a Macintosh SE FDHD (dual floppy) which I might like to print from in the future (running 6.0.8/7.0.1, or maybe 7.1/7.1.1 in the future)...
So, I acquired a Macintosh IIci recently (see https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/25123-macintosh-iici-wont-start-up/).
It occasionally booted pre-recap, but now that it's been recapped it just starts, gives the boot chime, goes for a minute or two, and then sounds the Chimes of Death...
So, I am restoring a Macintosh IIci https://68kmla.org/forums/index.php?/topic/25123-macintosh-iici-wont-start-up/, and I thought it might be nice to run System 7.5.4 on it. Why 7.5.4? Look http://www.fenestrated.net/~macman/SysReview/#Summary at this. 7.5.4 crashes some PowerPC Performas. I...
I got a rather dusty Macintosh IIci (M5780) with no RAM or hard drive, marked by the eBay seller as "Powers On". I also purchased a Macintosh Color Display (M1212) which was "tested". I put in some memory from 1-800-4MEMORY on eBay marketed as a 32MB kit (16MB x2) for Macintosh IIci. I bought...
