After years of trying to track one down in my price range I have finally managed to get a hold of one of these little guys.
So now I have to get rid of things to maintain the harmony and order of my room. Look out for a post soon regarding cheap as free odds and sodds.
Hey all!
Preface:
I had a Powerbook 5300c with a cracked screen, Beachycove gave me a 5300c with a dislodged power socket. With the magic of screwdrivers, solder and take apart guides I now have a (mostly functional) Powerbook 5300c that is an amalgam of the two! Thanks to this process I had...
Not really vintage... surplus maybe.
They're letting a Mac Pro go at work; the options are I can have it for free or I can sell it for them. I'm not interested in selling it personally, its a hassle to deal with used-computer consumers for items this large; easier to have someone come pick it...
I am so stoked.
I finally found a boxed copy of Star Trek The Next Generation: A Final Unity!!! No pics yet as I don't physically have it yet. My buddy found his old copy amongst the detritus of moving out.
I have played nearly every Trek game EVER, but I have never been able to get my hands...
I finally found one looking around the detritus of my office's storage space.
Turns out it was the server of office downstairs until they upgraded earlier this decade. Best part is it's free if I can get the backed up data off it! Should be a piece of cake as it boots into 10.3 no problem...
So I managed to actually get my hands on an eMate a while back, and an orinoco wavelan card
I managed to get some help from Newton poetry, and geek technique.
I've had no problems getting the card recognized, but I can't really figure out how to connect to a network. I open the card info box...
I have been playing around with a nice dual 800mhz G4 that was abandoned for what I believe were GPU issues. I managed to swap the video card and everything works great now, but there are some issues that are causing me to wonder at the stability of this girl.
•I have successfully installed...
So I'm close to having my second most favoured Mac back; a Powerbook 5300c I used all through high school, only to have the screen shatter!
Well Beachycove was nice enough to give me a 5300c with a loose power jack, but an immaculate screen! I managed to get the screens switched last night and...
I have a 4MB flashcard I found in a Newton MP110 from a thrift-store. The compact flash card would NOT read on the Newton 110, but can be read by my eMate.
However, the eMate will not write to the card. When I insert the card a dialogue box appears giving me card information and at the bottom...
So I kinda want a stand alone Powermac to serve delicious oldskool apps to my 7100 when it's all said and done.
I found these guys at a hacker studio I frequent, and they look cool, but there is some problems. They both have composite/coaxial and svideo capture cards!
First up is Earshot, as...
Found a guy selling one in my hometown, had to grab it.
Longtime desire to own one of these things, and now that I have it I realized I have no localtalk cables.
Oh well, maybe next week I can find one. For now its fun to draw on!
I was told to clean out our office storage locker and I came upon these beauties from days gone past. I actually got these around January but they have been sitting around while I make a decision regarding which one to keep.
Mac Classic
Mac Classic II
Mac Se/30
Mac Plus.
Not sure if the...
And looking on EvilBay I see a couple units up there that require some repair, mostly having to do with the display.
I'm a certified mechatronics technician, so repair doesn't scare me, but not knowing much about the eMate's build quality or source of replacement parts I cannot qualify how...
So I really like having my 7100 back up and purring, it feels like old times. I'm playing some old games on there and exploring the by-gone era of software, but I have this desire that maybe you guys could set me straight on?
So when I was a kid I always wanted one of those nubus DOS cards, but...
Hello all! I am a long time reader of this AWESOME forum, but new to posting here.
I want to tell you all about my favourite new project; my old powermac 7100, but first a story.
When I was a young lad I spent many a night in the glow of my trusty viewsonic CRT and my beloved powermac 7100/66...
