Found a guy selling one in my hometown, had to grab it.

Longtime desire to own one of these things, and now that I have it I realized I have no localtalk cables.

Oh well, maybe next week I can find one. For now its fun to draw on!

Question for the Newton Initiated; can you install apps through the use of a compactflash card?

Nice find! The eMate's design has always intrigued me. I picked one up off eBay for $20 a few weeks back. Pretty cool little machine!

Sadly I had to pay more than 20 :-x

Do you know if its possible to install packages onto CompactFlash?

Not quite sure. I'm trying to connect an AppleTalk network between the eMate, my PowerBook 5300, and my eMac.

Packages can be installed onto pcmcia storage cards. In the case of the emate, however, this is not a huge luxury, because you've only one pcmcia slot. Thus use of, say, a wireless card and that software pkg at the same time is impossible.

More memory can, however, be added by way of an internal memory card which goes in the battery compartment, and which also widens the data bus. It makes a big difference to how the machine behaves, but the cards are hard to find.
