Hey everyone, I'd like to try my hand at building one of the Classic II FPU cards from https://github.com/dymczykm/classic_ii_fpu. Does anyone have a legitimate source for the MC68882FN40A chips listed in the BOM or should I try rolling the dice on an eBay order of a few from overseas?
Hey everyone,
I just picked up a couple 68k PowerBooks yesterday and neither came with an AC adapter. Are the modern third party adapters good to go or am I better off buying an original Apple adapter and going through a recap? Thanks!
For reference, quick Amazon search came up with this:
I'm a bit stumped. I am trying to replace the original, and failing, 500MB IDE hard drive in my Performa with an 8GB CF card. I've tried two different IDE to CF adapters with no luck so far. Each time I use Drive Setup, both versions 1.5 and 1.7.3, patched and unpatched, I get an...
I'm in the processing of diagnosing a floppy drive on a Classic undergoing repair that fails when trying to initialize a disk. I figured it'd be good to see if the disk was any good so I pulled out my Classic II that I recapped last year:
Super! Well, let's not ruin the morning, how about...
As I alluded to in my SE/30 thread, I'm also working on a Classic. I've running into an issue when plugging my FloppyEMU into the external port of the computer. When in floppy emulation mode, I am able to select a disk image but the moment the computer begins to access the image, my FloppyEMU...
I finally got brave and cracked the case on a SE/30 that was given to me. It had been sitting in a hot garage for a number of years.
Needless to say, maxcell bomb strikes again. It was getting dark so I don't have any more pictures. The chassis is pretty bad too. I'm inspired by...
Hey everyone,
I'm having some odd issues with a Classic that I recently recapped the logic board. I have a sneaking suspicion that the analog is outputting incorrect voltages and I'll need to replace capacitors there too. I'd like to test it first. Can I safely apply power to the board with...
Picked up a G4 Cube locally today. The price was too good to pass up. No cracks in the plastic but there are a decent amount of scratches. I haven't decided if I'm going to try polishing or just leave it as is.
Hard drive is loud (I'm going to start looking for a SSD solution) and the...
My brother dug up my old Silhouette trackball (not sure how he ended up with it) and said he'd bring it the next time he's in town. The software is long gone. The trackball has a programmable second button and I'd love to get it back up and running.
This is a long shot I'm sure but does...
I finally worked up the courage to clean, decap and solder in new tantalum capacitors (thank you trag) on my Classic II logic board. It's not the prettiest but it worked!
The case is still pretty dirty and unfortunately it's a little dinged up but the next step is to clean it as best I can. ...
I finally worked up the courage to start desoldering the bad caps on the LC logic board I found at a local electronics recycler.
About an hour later, not a single pad lifted. The board is now drying after being washed in some very diluted soapy water.
This LC didn't power on so I'm going to...
I had been watching a dual 800k SE on Craigslist for the past couple of weeks and had planned to go and pick it up this weekend. It was about a 100 mile drive so today was the first time I'd have the time to make the trip. Someone snagged it yesterday, fortunately before I made the journey.
I...
