    400K Mac floppy drives

There were a couple of M0130 Mac 400K external drives and a Sun Remarketing 400K (same, but no Apple logo molded into case) for $5 ea at Austin's Goodwill Computer Store last Wednesday. I bought one of them and a M0100 mouse, also $5. Both pretty good looking, not very yellowed. If you're in the...

    Apple II animation

Posted an animation test for a video done entirely on an Apple //e. There's also some new stuff in the music section. http://web.me.com/henryspragens/Apple-II/Apple_II_Graphics/Apple_II_Graphics.html

    Kodak DC40 (QuickTake's brother)

Found a Kodak DC40, which is their version of the QuickTake 100 / 150 camera. It works! However, it's a PITA to get pictures off it to the web. Kodak's PhotoEnhancer software runs under System 7.5, and the camera needs a serial port and a floppy drive, so the camera attaches to my PowerBook 520...

    An old Hackintosh

I dug my '86 vintage Hackintosh (Yes, that's what we called 'em back then) out of the barn and took some pictures. Unfortunately, it's the worse for its years in a cardboard box which also apparently was a home to various rodents who peed etc. on everything. Yet TBD how much of the system is...

    alphaSyntauri

I'll make this a separate topic. I have just about all Syntauri software, I think, but some floppies have partially bad files, and stuff needs to be copied to new disks. At one time, I figured out how to defeat the copy protection and get Metatrak 5.0 onto my hard disk. I can probably piece...

    Mountain Computer Music System

Grrr! It's coming back to me now... my old Mountain Music cards don't work in a //e. They only work in a ][ or ][ Plus. I guess I have to find a keyboard for my Apple ][. The //e I rescued recently isn't going to fly as host for the alphaSyntauri. :( Anybody know if there are Mountain...

    GS RAM cards?

Here's a question for you A2 experts. Looking thru my Apple II stuff, I found a "Zeus RAM Card", which is evidently an early version of the Apple II GS RAM expansion card. It only has 1 jumper position instead of 2, and all chips are socketed. So what do the jumpers on the GS RAM card do? One...

    Apple//e

Today's rescue is a //e from about 1985 with a couple of Teac 1/2 height floppies (all labels in Japanese), a couple of mystery cards in slots 1 & 5, and an Apple RAM expansion card in slot 4. The RAM card is one I'm not familiar with. It looks like it would hold 1MB fully populated, but it...

    Early Mac schematic

I posted MacDraw schematics from reverse engineering my Mac back in 1984. You'll need MacDraw to open them. Anybody know of an OS X app that can open or translate MacDraw docs? http://homepage.mac.com/henryspragens/FileSharing4.html ->68K Mac -> MacSchematic

    800K drive stripped gears

I picked up a couple of 800K external drives and neither will eject a disk after being cleaned & lubed. In both cases the first little plastic gear in the eject mechanism is broken, probably from trying to work the old crusty disk holder. Anybody found a replacement, or are these drives toast?

    Appleshare crashing on 6.0.8

Grrr! > :( So last night I pulled the old Mac "128" with its SuperMac 2MB RAM + SCSI upgrade outa the closet. No boot. Hard disk keeps recalibrating over & over. Tried to reformat etc. - no joy. Pulled a 160 MB laptop drive with an Apple label out of a dead Duo, installed it...
