Got a blue/white G3 tower for 50 bucks. Freezing MacOS 9.2

Lots of great ideas, everyone. Thank you! Didn't know when I found this that I was finding something a little special. It is currently at my office in Boise, and I am in two job season, so it will be a bit before I can really tear in, but will do so eagerly when I have time. This will be both a fun restoration, and useful for my work in accessing old files made in old programs, without having to emulate or mess around on newer machines. I do have a 17 inch early 00's flat screen apple monitor coming (with a loose stand I hope to fix) that I may use with it also.

I used to have ALL those peripherals you mentioned. A cool scsi Zip drive, an apple burner (this one was purple clear plastic in line with the iMac flavors, and others. But over time, I let all those go. Wish I didn't! I do have modern USB CD/R-DVD drives I can use with my modern machines. I have had to have those for work purposes when different police departments and prosecutors provided discovery on them. So good to go there. Just not as cool as an apple branded one.

Ending up with a graphite G4 which has not been run in years for another 50 bucks. Might end up as a parts donor. Will decide as I go. But will likely only have time to pick up the G4 tomorrow without much time to do much else, and then can't probably properly investigate/troubleshoot either machine for another couple weeks at least, Two job season right now.

I did re-seat all the RAM and the machine seems to work fine now. I will likely to a clean install anyway, starting with a Power Mac G3 install CD I bought and then updating to 9.2.

It currently does not have a battery. I will change that later in some way or another.

Thanks for the help so far!

Nice. Simple fix. If you've an extra ADB keyboard, use that with it. No need to stick with the somewhat mushy feeling USB keyboards.

I will at some point. I have a rainbow apple one that has a q key that sticks and wants to keep ghost typing, but once I get that fixed, and use it with my SE/30, it will open up another one I have for use with the G3. All my ADB are beige though. I guess they all are.

Yup, except for the Macintosh TV version of the M0487, and, I think a black version of the ADK.

Black’s not so bad.

Here’s one of the last B&Ws that I resurrected, that I like to refer to as a G3 “B&B”.
[As in...“Black & Blue”.];)
