Macintosh Portable M5126

Hey guys, I just received a Macintosh Portable M5126. I bought a battery from 360alaska and it works very well.  :)

Battery pictures (thanks, alaska!):

Booting up:

It'll probably need to be recapped soon. It also came with the original carrying case which is really cool.  :p

Awesome find!

You should have it recapped NOW before it's too late. As I'm sure techknight will tell ya, bad caps can cause some permanent damage to particular chips.

Finding a working portable is quite rare, and believe me you don't want to run into problems with this thing!

Also, the floppy doesn't eject properly so I have to manually do it. Has it just grown weak with time?

Is the mechanism sticky? You should re-lube that drive anyway. Also, you should check the worm shaft, sometimes it gets clogged up.

I don't think the eject motor is to blame, but perhaps the caps are... (As always when something is wrong, could be caps)

I was thinking it could have been the caps too, yeah. Thanks.

By the way, it's also hard to get the floppy out manually. It takes quite a few tries to get it out using the manual eject hole. The machine is also reluctant to turn on and I have to hold those 2 programmer buttons on the side usually.

Floppy drive is stuck and caps are on their way out, don't wait too much.
I'm probably gonna have to do it myself since I don't really have the spare money to pay for the repair + shipping.

Thankfully he has a cap list on his site!

I you have never done it yourself keep in mind that there is a lot of caps to replace and some are very close from each other.
