2 New SE/30 Logic board with Issues

I just build 2 new SE/30 Logicboard.
1. Unit machine boot up but dont boot from ISCSI. Floppy Drive working fine. I have swap the SWIN and the ISCSI IC from other 2 damage boards and no luck,
2. It was working fine, put it away to finish the first one, now get Horizontal bards. I remove the ROM and RAM during storage.

Any Ideas of what to else to verify. Done tracez and all the componets are new. Accept for SWIN, GLUE, UH7 and UL11.

FYI, this a two diferent Logic board.

First Logic Board - Boot fine, everything work but I can not get ISCSI to work. Try Diferent SWIN and ISCSI IC with out luck
Second Unit - Was working fine, put it away to work on the first unit, now horizontal Jail bars.

Any ideas what else to check....in both logicboard. Verify for connectivity using multimeter betwen componetns. Open for sugestions....

Thanks for the feedback but no RTC, I created my on RTC IC plus I have replacement from donor boards. Test all RTC IC on good Logic board. They work fine!

Will it recognize the disks at all?
Could also be a termination issue. When it is passive termination: check TRM power.

5V is there. Check the Diode to verify is not going anywhere. everything check out!

they look clean; for board #2 maybe check solder on back of board for bad solder joints at rom/memory slots? clean the slots and chips with 99% iso and a toothbrush to ensure good contact. Can horizontal bars be caused by a bad analog board? have you tried these boards in another SE? Original apple scsi hdd is confirmed working?

Socketting all those PLCC chips is not recommended or desirable. You have a huge opportunity for bad contacts there, between possible solder issues on the sockets, corroded legs on the chips, or damaged/otherwise problematic contacts between the chip and socket.

Recommend removing them.

Analog board is ok, try with other SE/30, work fine!
Already verify all the soldering point and check with multimeter.
Board was clean using a Sonic Cleaner and 99% EPA bath after it!
The Apple HD was remove 3 days ago from a working SE/30 upgraded to a BlueSCSI v2. Try BlueSCSI v2 with terminator on, no luck on the #1

All IC I took my time and clean them, use a brass wire brush to remove any rust. Plus use a multimeter with a needle probe to verify and trance every connection on the ISCSI, SWIN and Glue.

On the First Logicboard - SCSI issue. I remove the socket for the SWIN and SCSI IC. No change. I order new SCSI IC from Mouser. Will update Thursday!. The Second Logic board. No clue yet!

That’s a lot of work, I’d suggest starting by making sure all of the PLCC legs are clean.

Why not try running MacTestPro and seeing what errors it throws up? You could make a boot floppy for this.

Have you tried connecting a SCSI device to the external port?

There are three fuses and a diode near the SCSI logic, can you check these for continuity and also make sure the diode is the right way round? Also is the bourns filter relevant here? Could you also check if the board is getting good voltages on the 12V rail?

Does the other board, with the jail bars, make a chime of death? You may need to plug in some headphones to verify this, if the speaker is not hooked up for testing.

If not, the first thing I would do is make sure the ROM SIMM is properly seated, and clean its pins while you’re at it with an eraser on the back of a pencil.

Update, the board with SCSI issue, It can see the drive or BlueSCSI v2 volume, mount it, formated, partition it, install os but it will not boot from the HD or BlueSCSI. Now if I turn off and back on qucik, the machine boot from HD or blueSCSI.



Regarding the Horizontal bar, I dont get any sound.
