urbancamo
Announcing the Retrochallenge 2012 Summer Challenge As usual the competition is open to all, so come and join us for a legitimized month of playing, hacking and blogging with/about your retrogear. For those of you new to retrochallenge the philosophy is: About RetroChallenge In a nutshell, the RetroChallenge is a loosely disorganised gathering of RetroComputing enthusiasts who collectively do stuff with old computers for a month. The event is very much open to interpretation... individuals set there own challenges, which can range from programming to multimedia work; hardware restoration to exploring legacy networking... or just plain dicking around. It really doesn't matter what you do, just so long as you do it. While the RetroChallenge has its competitive side, it's not really a contest... it's more like global thermonuclear war — everyone can play, but nobody really wins. The competition runs for the month of July. Come on... give it a go! Register using the ENTER link on the Official Competition page: http://retrochallenge.org
MacJunky
300KB background image? No information whatsoever? What happened to the Retrochallenge site? I wanted to spam modern PC users with a link to RC(again) but now if they go there they would have no idea what is going on!
MacJunky
And now an 800KB pdf to list the entrants? Ok, I can see where you are coming from with a scanned sheet, but in the future you are also going to have a normal not-pdf/image/etc list too, right?
MacJunky
Oh, and the way things are set up now a person with their browser wider than it is tall cannot see all the letters of your image map because you have it forced horizontally and no vertical scroll bar. On my notebook I cannot see anything lower than " unless browser window size is changed dramatically. Viewing on my desktop there is part of a yellow question mark visible normally. :\ Do not get me wrong, it is fine if you want to have your bandwidth heavy&modern computer requiring main site, but please stick up an alternate mostly text version like the 2012WW page that is actually informative/useful for those who are not into huge image maps and pdfs scripted out the wazoo. And for the love of all things old, please do not make a flash based site for 2013WW. *Edit And I know it looks bad that I am complaining and not entering. I was considering it but need a couple days to find out if it might happen.(not that I have anything useful to do, but still.)
