BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

Moi aussi, j'ai hâte de voir le résultat ! Oops, wrong language. I, too, am looking forward to seeing the result !

BGE's take on the Quadra 900/950 ATX PSU Mod

    Great. Looking forward !
  3. I would be willing to test with one of my SE/30s, but I live in western Europe. I guess you would rather send to US residents . I'm ok to pay for postage fees though.
  4. Zane, your comeback is great news. Count me in as well for the 8MB variant. Do you plan on selling a ROM SIMM programmer as well ?

Yes, you guessed right . They're both dead at the moment... I'd be willing to get two sets.

Great work, BGE ! Keep it up When you reach final design, I'd be interested in buying two of you boards (and I live in a country next to yours).

Fan replacement for a Mac SE/30

Nice fan indeed, but the problem with those translucent fan blades is that they usually don't last long. It reminds me about the Noiseblocker S4 fans that were very popular 15 years ago but broke like glass after a couple of years.

mAcTX - ATX to Classic Macs

Have you guys heard of this project ? Doesn't support soft power but definitely worth a look.

Macintosh Classic (XO) Custom Rom Disk?

IIRC, the Classic had a 40-pin rom chip, which is less common nowadays. Am I wrong ?

Sil3132 Flashing (SATA II) (G5) (PCIE)

btw, I haven't been able to boot from a drive connected to it yet ...
  11. Hi, I realized that both Firmtek and Wiebetech sold Sil3132 based controller cards for late-2005 PowerMac G5. I had a Sil3132 card sitting in a drawer so I decided to give it a try. Fortunately, this card has a 4mbit eeprom. The firmware file (ROM.3132.2SE2) was taken from Firmtek's latest available update. Flashing it via updflash.exe in DOS mode was easy. But my 2.0 GHz dual core G5 is unstable with the card installed and a HDD attached to it (WD Green 500GB). Most of the time it will crash during boot or a few seconds past login... I tried the previous firmware revision ( and it doesn't seems to be better. By any chance, does somebody have the wiebetech firmware file ?

    Warning! Exploding Maxell PRAM Batteries

The replacement board arrived today, but it was so poorly packaged that it was damaged during transport: A chip and a cap were floating around in the box : They come from the areas in the yellow and red circles. Great. Now I'm stuck with two damaged boards. Repairing is not an option since my soldering skill is... Zero. Sorry for being off topic, but I wanted to share this "experience".

    Warning! Exploding Maxell PRAM Batteries

most of my macs are stored in an attic where the temp can reach 35°C (91° F) during summer.

    Warning! Exploding Maxell PRAM Batteries

Yes. But at least 3 capacitors are missing and lots of PCB traces are damaged as well. Ram and CPU should be Ok though.
