SCSI2SD v5.5 and the Mac SE/30

Recommended Posts

Are there any known issues I should be aware of with the Intertial SCSI2SD-V5.5 (the external drive that plugs into the SCSI port on the Mac)? Or is it pretty simpatico with this model Mac?

I have an internal version on the Mac SE and it works fine.

Thanks!

It's also nice in that it has worked with all the macs I have that have a SCSI port. I set mine up for IDs 1,2,3,4 (1.9G each) and left off 0. That way I can plug it into a computer with an internal drive and not run into ID conflicts. Makes for transferring a snap as well as setting up internal drives. The build quality is good, however with some computers like my Beige G3 I had to modify the SCSI2SD case so it will fit on the back of the computer.

I've used it with: SE, SE/30, LCIII, IIcI, Q700, Beige G3.

I find assigning just one SCSI I’d and partitioning for multiple volumes makes things much easier for avoiding I’d conflicts when using multiple devices, and essentially gives the same result.

I agree with the single ID, multi partition setup. I’ve found that to be much simpler from a technical standpoint, since you can make 2, 3 2-GB partitions for older Macs and leave the rest of the space unallocated.
