    Xserve G4 L3 cache failure

    Here an ASD screenshots.
  5. Hi! I have Xserve G4 slot-loading (https://everymac.com/systems/apple/xserve/specs/xserve_g4_1.33.html). I've noticed that Diagnostics tab of System Information shows L3 cache failure. I reset NVRAM, ran Apple Service Diagnostics and it shows L3 cache 0 bytes. I physically removed the CPU and looked at two Samsung memory chips there — it is GBA soldered. What to do, how to enable L3 cache again? Is it a software restriction (if yes, then where to enable)? But I think it is a hardware failure, who and how fixed it? It it enough to re-solder two memory BGA chips, or need chips replacement, or something else?

    Mac Plus video issue

Thanks, guys, for your expertise. I will think twice before buying, because to the price of the board I'll need to add a price of shipping (an expensive thing). Probably, I should wait for a more clear offers, or, at least, for offers in my city, to avoid abroad shipping costs.

    Mac Plus video issue

Thanks for info about logicboard caps—the same issue was on my Mac Classic II, I recapped it and it works well. So I think there is the same situation, so try to contact the seller if he will able to send me only Analog Board part. PS: I've found what is that device: Kensington System Saver, "This is a must for keeping your old Mac protected by cooling and protecting against surges , as well as added extra power ports and handy buttons to control what is powered".

    Mac Plus video issue

Hi! I am looking for purchasing an Analog Board for my dead Mac Plus. I've found a seller who offer dead Mac Plus with white and black bars on screen. I want to ask you, guys, if you know, is it a problem of Logic Board or a problem of Analog Board? I want to ask the seller to extract Analog Board from this machine, so I need to know if it is working or not. Here is a photo. PS: By the way, what's a device on top?

    Microphone

Wow, interesting. What's the difference between the first and the second, except additional adapter? By the way, there are also at least one more model—looks the same as the third but in clear case. I bought such recently. While I don't know how I will use it, just bought because it is cool looking.

    Any thoughts on this....it arrived!!!

Why do you want to thrash it? It's an interesting thing by itself.

I think, you should re-solder each rusted contact, to almost completely exclude rust from motherboard. I think, if you will not do that, then it will be hard to diagnostic it later when you will try to turn it on and if it will not turn on the first try. Also, if you know how to test these chips, it will be a good idea to do it while they are dismantled from the motherboard. I suppose, some of them may be broken? Really, you need to look how far corrosion goes. I hope, not too far. Completely remove? I don't think it's a good idea. Maybe cut up (with a rasp) the plastic up to not corroded contacts and use thin wires instead original legs?
