    Apple II color

The Apple beige chip is a true beige, nothing close to that color in the Pantone book, I wold say it is at least 15-20 shades off of the PMS 453. not even close to the same color. I just ordered some paint chips that are called Apple Platinum from one my paint suppliers, they tell me this is the real Apple platinum color, it is a powder coating and requires a 400 degree bake, so I cant use it on plastic, but I can have matched in liquid coating for plastic. Apple II color

Hi, I talked to my old boss from Finishing Technology Inc., they closed in 1986, I worked there in the mid 70's to mid 80's, until I started Finishing First Inc. in 1986. I asked him if he had any of the old office records from back then, he let me go through about 30 boxes of old records. I found the Apple approved paint sample for Apple beige, still in the Apple folder. this is the color we painted the II's, II+'s and disk drives. The paint color was a custom mixed color, it was not from the PMS Pantone color chart or Fedral Standard color chart, it was custom made for Apple. I have a picture of the sample on my computer, but I don't know how to post it here. If anyone is interested, tell me how to post it and I will be happy to share it with you. Ed

    Apple ///

Hi, I was looking at my Apple /// & /// plus, I can't find a model number, only a serial number, they both start with A3S2-, then a 6 digit serial number. One is clearly marked Apple /// and the other is clearly marked Apple /// plus, is this normal? What is the main difference between the /// & ///+ other than the name plate and different layout of the keyboard? Thanks Ed

    Mac 128k color

I now own Finishing First Inc. right in the heart of the Silicon Valley, we do not have a website, we do industrial spray painting and powder coating on industrial, computer, architectural parts, just about anything that needs painting. The Pantone PMS books are available from any silksceen ink supplier or maybe from www.pantone.com, from year to year the colors change slightly, we get a new book annually. Ed

    Mac 128k color

The reason I asked about the colors, I have painted several Apple II's, II+'s, and disk drives. To make a long story short, in the late seventies I worked for Finishing Technology Inc., we painted apple II's, II+'s, disk drives, and the bottom pans all the way up through the IIe's and a few parts for the Lisa's. I just finished up painting a Apple III and III+ for a customer, I painted the plastic with the same paint that was on the II's and applied a fine texture to the parts to look like the plastic. Now he wants us to paint some early Macs, he gave me a brand new numeric keypad stiil in the box to match the paint to, the new keypad is quite a few shades off from the PMS 453, it has more of a green shade. I just want to paint the Macs as close to original as possible. Thanks Ed

    Mac 128k color

Were the beige Macs the same color as the Apple II & II+, most of the beige Macs have yellowed so much it is hard to compare them with the painted II & II+. Thanks Ed :b&w:
