Apple Color Monitor M1212 Cleanup

Roommate brought home an M1212 from his place of work that was gonna be tossed, but boy is it in rough shape. Filthy, with a cracked bezel and a missing stand, just to start. After managing to pry off the back of the chassis I blew it out with an air compressor and shook it out. It clearly spent some time in the outdoors, and a rodent of some kind made it a home at least for awhile; plenty of feces came right out, in addition to a couple of acorns and tree litter that were hiding in there.

Despite all of that, the board appears to be in reasonable shape, save for a chewed up wire and the rubber cap at the base of the flyback. Going to try and get it cleaned more thoroughly with bleach and wipe everything down, just to make sure it's safe to handle. Replacing the caps and that wire should be easy enough. I have of course not turned it on or even plugged it in.

However dirty it appears in these pictures, it was assuredly much worse before wiping it down with window cleaner...

Those two metal tines, I'm thinking they were from the stand, as I don't see them in the blow-up diagram at the end of the M1212 Service Source.

Some more photos of the disassembly. (The tines it turns out are grounding fingers that broke off the bottom crt plate.)

Believe it or not, I’ve got. Bunch of M1212 parts I was going to toss that might help you. Send me a PM if you like.

Love the M1212. I’m rooting for it. :)

Some time ago I compiled a cap list for the boards over at TD, if you ever need a reference.
