    Classic II capacitor kits?

I have finally placed my order of caps, after ordering I noticed some of the logic board caps are described as follows: Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors - SMD Aluminium Electrolytic Capacitors - SMD 16V 47uf 20% Audio-SMT The Audio bit concerns me, will these be ok? The Analog caps are all 'Aluminium Electrolytic, Radial Leaded' is this correct?

    Classic II capacitor kits?

I have had a Mac Classic II for around a year that is in excellent physical condition. I started to work on replacing the capacitors (I have got so far as removing the primary culprits on the analog board) but my progress stopped when trying to order the replacement capacitors (for the analog and surface mount caps on the logic board). Looking on www.mouser.co.uk there are thousands of capacitors. I started to carefully piece together a shopping list to match the existing capacitors but if I make a mistake the outcome could be disastrous. So to my question, does anyone know of anyone who supplies replacement capacitor kits for classic mac restorations? I'm in the uk but am not in a rush so would be happy to order from abroad and wait for delivery. Hope someone can help, my disemboweled mac sits in the corner of my office and looks a sorry state!

sixsevenco good to hear you managed to resurrect your mac from the dead, there is hope for us all. I am slowly filling my basket on mouser thanks for advice regarding the capacitors, how do I find suitable replacements for DP3 and DP4, what are they? They do not have any markings.

Mouser looks like the place to buy my replacement capacitors but I could use some buying advice. I'm planning to replace all capacitors on the Logic and analog boards but I'm not sure what replacements are suitable, for example one of the existing capacitors is a Nichicon, 470uf, 25v, marked with the codes; M9037 and VX(M) plus a temperature of 85℃. Does this refer to the max operating temperature? Are the codes important? Using the filters on mouser (including the size filters) I have whittled to 8 matches but none appear to be exact (https://www.mouser.co.uk/Nichicon/Passive-Components/Capacitors/Aluminum-Electrolytic-Capacitors/_/N-75hqt?P=1z0wrk5Z1yx4awyZ1z0zlbmZ1z0x27uZ1z0x0wm). Are all/any/none of these suitable replacements?

sixsevenco, before you removed the old caps on the analog board did you check then for charge? I've been scouting the web for info on discharging caps and how quickly they naturally drain and have come to the conclusion this is bloody dangerous! Does anyone know of a standard/safe procedure for safely removing capacitors?

When I discharge the CRT I assume the analog board/capacitors get discharged at the same time?

Just opened up the classic and the visual appearance of everything inside looks great, very little dust, no corrosion anywhere. I can't see any leakage around the pram battery (leakage being my reason for wanting to replace it). I shall clean around the caps first see if that works.

Hope it's ok to piggy back on to this thread. I have just bought a classic II in great physical condition but dead on start-up (I hear the disc spin but screen shows nothing). I'm a complete novice (have never used a soldering iron in my life!!!) but plan to attempt the same resurrection as sixsevenco. I'm in the UK, could anyone recommend a good source from where to buy the needed capacitors, pram battery and anything else I may need.
