  1. I got a iMac 20" that doesn't want to turn on. When I press the power button, nothing happens, no light no sound, no display, nothing. There is however a kinda beeping noise from what I think is the power supply when I put my ear close to the fan holes. I got it from the guy who said it also didn't power on for him. I tried the hairdryer method, nothing. It seems last night that if I pressed the button a couple of times, then it'll boot. Now that I'm trying it, it doesn't want to seem to power on. I striped the base screws to the ram (because of a crappy screwdriver bit) so try to keep teardown to a minimal if possible, or tell me how to remove them.

    iMac G4 20 inch won't turn on?

I'm not that good with soldering. I tried it once and fricked up my tip. I don't know what I did wrong but I don't want to destroy it even more. I would like to learn what/how to iron but most of the videos I found online I frankly found confusing. Wouldn't that be putting it in the oven? I've seen that before Actually I got them off. It took a long time with a wrench but I got them off its back on now but I made sure I can unscrew it if I need to (needs a ram upgrade)
  3. I think it is his. The pictures of the inside look the same from haps original post about it. I even saw this on Macrumors!

    Etherdock help?

I got a ether dock that is broken. I'm pretty sure it hadn't been used in years before I got it. I tried to use it once with the floppy drive, but it gave an error and some popping sounds. It might've been the duo I was using because I tried the floppy drive with another computer and it worked alright. But anyways, I'm pretty sure the ether dock just needs a recap. It smelled like fish every time after I used it, which I've heard could be a sign of dead caps but idk. PS: does anyone know if the external floppy drive for those duo units uses ZIF in the drive? I got a cheap zif to cf adapter that I planned on using in my iPod Video but it didn't work. So now I kinda need a new use for it.
  7. I have 2 Apple IIGS's recently without a hard drive or boot disk and the drive I got only reads 800k disks and I know you can format a 1.4 MB disk by putting tape on one of the wholes but idk how to put a GS/OS image on there or where to find one, so how do I do it and is there a better, cheaper way of doing it?

    John's Finds

I googled the name and it turns out it's a company that seems to make stuff for woodturners. It seems the guy who runs it is named Jon Siegel. Now, idk if thats what it was used for/by (for all I know it could've been used by a company thats been out of business since the 90s) but thats what I think

    Farallon EtherMac Adapter

I've done the correct process to install it (I think) I've read the instruction manual, but it still hasn't worked. The part where I seem to be encountering an error is when the manual says to set the zone to Daynaport or whatever, but when I go to change it, there are no zones. I know the ethernet works. The installation seems to work. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong.

    SCSI ethernet adapter help

Does anyone else here have a Dayna Pocket SCSI/Link? I've tried to install mine on multiple devices, but it seems the drivers or something doesn't work. I've read through the manual multiple times and made sure I did everything right. Can anyone give help or tips?

    Macintosh TV questions

Can you send a link to download the restore for the Mac TV? I'm planning on restoring mine and I kinda need the cd. Ps. on the tuner card there's a small board on it, it's probably old and very corroded. Mine was so corroded when I picked it up to put it back in the machine a cap or two fell. Luckily, the cards pretty cheap on eBay. You should probably buy sockets (I think that's what they are called) so if you need to replace it again, it's just a matter of ordering a new one and putting it in.

    HDI-20 Repair?

I've got a Powerbook Duo 2300c that has a dead hard drive. I want to restore this since this is kinda easy to repair, especially since it uses 2.5 IDE instead of 2.5 SCSI, so I can just put in a cheap 2.5 IDE to CF converter and install MacOS and these Powerbook Duos are quite rare. The only problem is the floppy drive. I have an HDI-20 floppy drive, and I have an Emachines dock (which has an HDI-20 port) and a micro dock. However, I've only tried it once on the emachines dock. It said it couldn't read the disk (even though there was no disk in there) and when I pressed eject, it popped and the computer turned off (it was plugged into the wall) and I haven't tried it since. I haven't been able to try it with the micro dock because one of the metal leg things is broken and it doesn't seem to want to go in. It could be that the drive needs to be lubricated, or I may need to repair one of the docks. Can anyone help me? Also, can someone show me how to lubricate the HDI-20 drive, just want to get it out of the way. Also, can you use Petroleum Jelly/vaseline to lubricate floppy drives? I read somewhere that it works really good in a pinch.

ADC to DVI adapter Power supply?

I have an ADC to DVI adapter that I think is broken. It seems to cut out and glitch at random times, and the USB works (at first), then it seems to die. I've done some reading, and I saw an ifixit post where they say that every 2 years the power supplies die (post). I'm pretty sure its the adapter because I've tried it with different Studio displays and it seems to do the same thing. I was wondering if anyone knows if the power supply or something else is to blame and how to fix it. Also, how do you disassemble the adapter?

  24. I got an Indigo iBook G3 recently for $30, the guy said that he had it on for an hour, than the screen went white and nothing else, I've tried resetting the PRAM, the PMU, I haven't checked inside the iBook yet if the connection is loose (but idk how since he had it running for an hour before it went bust) because I don't have a way to organize the screws yet. Can anyone help?
