    Best options for SSD in MDD G4?

    The set up I used, as described above, has been working flawlessly now for a while. Surprisingly easy to set up.

    Best options for SSD in MDD G4?

    Got the three SATA SSD’s and adapters today... did luckily have the jumpers on them. Rigged it all up, formatted the drives and everything is running great. Thank you all so much for your help!

    The pictures all look consistent to me. Which part are you thinking looks weird?

    Best options for SSD in MDD G4?

    yeah all four slots are occupied. For now I’m going to try the IDE to SATA adapters....I’ve also got three SanDisk X 100 SSD drives. 128 GB each and the 2.5 to 3.5 mounting adapters… Hopefully it will all work. Of course I’ve got a boot CD to format everything.

    Best options for SSD in MDD G4?

    Thanks again. PCI card is not really an option since the slots are occupied. Also I seem to remember OS 9 not supporting drive sizes over a certain amount? Not doing OS X on this machine.

    Thanks everyone. I think I’m gonna go with three of these guys? And some 128 GB SSDSATA drives. I believe this is the correct male to female adapter? https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F182164578978

    Best options for SSD in MDD G4?

    Thanks everyone. I’ve got a ProTools system on this Mac so all of the PCI slots are occupied. Sounds like an IDE to SATA converter is the best option. I definitely want to run OS 9 on this so does this even work for that operating system? And if so are there any specifics to avoid in the choice of drive? I think iOS 9 can only see a certain amount of gigabytes anyway?
  9. Looking to upgrade to SSD's if possible. Sorry if this has been covered before. Any particular things I should look for? I know they are IDE. Thanks for any help.

    Pinouts -- PrinterPort -> Chips ?

    Ah yes...I meant Modem port of course.

    Pinouts -- PrinterPort -> Chips ?

    Never mind this nonsense....I had appletalk on the printer port and apparently that caused the issue.

    Pinouts -- PrinterPort -> Chips ?

    My SE/30 is functioning perfectly except for the fact that I cannot get anything to recognize the printer port (serial port shows up) in things like techtool pro, OMS midi etc.... I must have burned a trace somewhere ? Looks like there are 8 pins on the printer port....Curious if this is something I can jump and if so, how exactly ? Thanks for any help.
  13. Anybody ever wetsanded or used steelwool on an SE/30 case ? I've got some scratches I'd like to remove. Is it worth it?
  14. Yep..system 6.0.8 formatted with Lido. Auto ejects every time. I really like running system 6 on this one so I guess I'll just deal with a noisy HD
  15. Seems to boot fast and run great but it's auto-ejecting on shutdown which I expected...oh well.
