I really hope firewire dosn't take offence at the "dude",

Well I just wanted to know what can be run on a dos card, running on a Quadra 650 & what sort of speeds I can expect.

My plan would be to run Gemulator, but maybe Deluxe Paint(dos) as well.

Any idea if these cards will support OS/2? I have a couple of cards which I would like to put to good use.

*waves hand* Hi! I'm here!

My DOS card (486DX2 @ 66 MHz) is exceptionally speedy. A billion times more responsive than any software emualtor I've ever used. And even real 486 PCs too. The key, though, is dedicated RAM. IThere's one 72pin SIMM slot on the card. If you leave that empty, there's an option to use VM for PC memory, but it'll run poopy and slow. I have a 16 Mb module in my card and that's more than enough. If you have a 32mb module that'll work too.

I have DOS 6.33 "Enhanced" and Windows 3.1 [both of which comes with the card, if you obtain it NIB] installed on one drive image, Windows 95 on a second image, and a lone DOS 6.33 on a third...Like i said before they all are very very speedy, although you can only get (as far as i know) 640x480 video...

Those are pretty much the only things (in term of OS's) that can run on a DOS card...(see: http://home.earthlink.net/~glimmung/quadrados/quadrados.html )

You can pretty much run whatever software you want...I haven't installed much (besides ClarisWorks 1.0 for Windows) myself, but I'm sure Gemulator and Deluxe Paint will work fine..

I have the LC PDS slot DOS card. It's great, although I'm trying to upgrade it to a Pentium 90 Overdrive...

Which one have you got? I got one off eBay and I need to give it a try one of these days. Mine's really for the road apples, but it's supposed to work in a 630 and I really want to try it in the 605 or 475.

edit: I found the old thread about my card. I still need the pinouts for the cable.

jt, i thought about doing the same thing with mine. However, i don't think it will work, as it needs to plug into the video slot on the motherboard (not the one for the Apple Video System, the one for the "Apple External Video Connector", which the LC475/Q605 doesn't have. Therefore, it probably cannot be done.

I haven't heard that about the Reply card . . . my standard 630 DOS card needs that connection but this one doesn't AFAIK!

There's no connector on it for the cable anyway!
