OK, this is getting ridiculous!

I went down to the Swap Shop today, and got three more Macs! (Namely, two 6100's and a 475.) That brings the total number of Macs in my room to twenty-four!
(And add to that a couple PCs that I have lying around - some being stored for people travelling over the summer, some destined to become Unix boxen...)

I've got to do something about this, or in three months my RAF (room-mate approval factor) is going to be in the negative numbers!

I also got the Portrait Display I mentioned earlier, plus a working LaserWriter 12/640. Unfortunately, the LaserWriter is having difficulties. I think it needs a new fuser drum - it's leaving grey bars horizontally across the page at regular intervals. But other than that, it's working beautifully...

if you have a surfeit of the microquadra variety, i heard there is a ghoulish predator lurking about disemboweling the poor little creatures and stacking their innards like cordwood! you wouldn't need a cable for a portrait monitor in trade for one that i could set out as bait in hopes of stopping the fiend's murder spree before he attacks my beloved 475 or 605 would you?

When you no longer can get into bed for an afternoon nap of a quiet Sunday because you have Macs all over the bed you know you have too many.
In my case I am almost that bad at the moment. I have 3 in my housemate's room (my 3 7x00s) and I've got a pair of IIci's stacked up under my desk. I'm on 0 room here. I may have to airlift a couple out of here

I gave up worrying about that about the same time I realised there was just too much to move. I think I have as much room taken up by furniture here as I do by macs n monitors n bits. It looks funny, visitors have something to talk n laugh about... and I don't mind, living just by m'self :D.

I'm like the only one that has storage space for more macs, and the PAF won't let me get any more. I need more TABLES, POWERSTRIPS, ETHERNET CARDS, AND CIRCUITS!

well see, this is an easy problem to fix, get rid of your furniture!

Yup, build new furniture out your macs then. This way u will barely know they are there. Kinda like that one article i read somewhere, posted in here too, with the warehouse of macs....

I dunno.

Twenty-four is just a little shy of two of each Mac, so must not have enough.

I personally don't believe one could have too many Macs, but with obvious factors involvded, one could find themselves having to make TOUGH choices. In my case SAF is an issue, she's a tosser, and I'm a keeper. She's already asking me when I'm going get rid of what I have. I've only got 6 at this point, and plan to acquire more, so this will take planning. I think if I keep the visible numbers low, my plan can succeed. I keep a couple in boxes and take them out occasionally, so she dosen't really know exactly what I have.

Yes I got two & my wife had a cow, now every other night she opens the door to the computer room & says "have you sold it yet!!!"

lol

I wonder if this is a hack but what I'm thinking is to build my macs into the walls of my house, thereby hiding them. If I then get keypads ala star trek then I could access the macs.

Come to think about it my house has a couple of dodgy walls, perhaps someone should buil a house out of macs.

A "House-Of-Mac"?..........I LOVE IT!!!!! As athe numbers have been growing here, I've kind have gone with a plan of building a Mac-Lab out of my attic. Kind of a token rememberance of the old high school days when they first did it. I'm not even sure what I'm up to anymore. After a weeks va-ca in Cape Cod with my daughter, we drove back with sitting room only after the car was filled with new aquirements. I think "House-Of-Mac" should be Dana's next picture project. Who else could give the vision the attention it deserves?

Current Mac's:
Mac Plus, SE30, Classic, LCII, (2) LC550, Centris 650, 7100/80, Performa 6214, PB2300c Duo w/dock, G3/400 "Shine On" [;-)]

I always wanted to set up my pizzaboxes into a BoloLAN rack, but lack the space and the monitors.

But, they have one here at uni anyway...

I wanted to reply to Gordoom's origional post(or at least his title).

Perhaps you should take your macs to the MRI where sexy nurses would clean them up & wrap them delicatley with bandages.

Time for some spring cleaning

i finally got down to canal street and nabbed two Sun Video Cables this morning!

(there are also about three Sun Mice of a couple of varieties, a strange Sun Speaker cable and a pile of other Sun cable doo-dads and crud in the box, but i think all the keyboards were gone, i didn't really look.)

one of these would probably work fine between a Portrait Card and a Portrait, but that'd be a waste, MicroQuadra on-board video is far superior as is the Portrait output of my pile of NuBus video accelerator cards. i chopped the one i tested in two already and i'm in the middle of documenting a conversion. Let me know if you're still interested in a Portrait Cable swap for anything!

My problem is as follows, I can't get enough of one model of macintosh to justify selling them

My plan is to eventually start cleaning, painting and selling old macs, particularly the compacct models

My only problem is the CRTs, being only 14, I have alot to live for, and I'm smaller than an adult, so it's more likely to hurt me more if I don't discharge the CRT right...

:sigh:
I also need to try A/UX on a mac
