Was in the process swapping the 1440x900 screen form a PBG4 17" with a 1680x1050 screen from PBG4 17" HR wreck , all went fine … but i noticed some yellow tint on the screen borders, changed the desktop to plain white , and indeed :

:-/  (don't mind the tape , it's there to keep the screen in place while testing)

Looks a bit like the 180s tunnel syndrome, but in yellow...

Anyone have seen this before ? And can it get better if I leave it running for a while… ?

yes.

After careful inspection , found there was also dust and crap in between the transparent plastic layers...

I've swapped back to the original 1440x900 screen.

I've heard of this happening when somebody using ammonia to the screen and the plastic surface yellowing as a result. But the entire screen, not the edges like in yours unless they only wiped down the sides.

Yes maybe... Or it's the backlight starting to fail. Like on old Pismos screen , they get a pink tint.

Too bad, 1680x1050 is really nice on these 17". Will have to find another one.

No, I kept the HR inverter board with the 1680x1050 for this testing.

Smoker's screen. Thats what happened there. In all displays, there is a little bit of UV yellowing down at the bottom where the CCFL is.

But the whole screen yellowing = smokers delight.
