I have acquired ...Yet Another SE/30. It was an eBay item for less than $60, shipped, which I thought a respectable price for a decent SE/30 with a classic case of SimasiMac. Another $10 for caps and $3.60 for a battery and I have a respectable 8x80 machine (w/ programmer's button) that arrived nicely packed with an absolutely non-yellowed case. In addition to that, all of the internal wires/cables are supple and there was almost no dust. Since I saw from the eBay photo that it had SimasiMac, I did not even power it up. I disassembled it, cleaned the board (there was goo, some had blackened) and re-capped it. Started it up after the re-cap and was greeted by astartup chime, a happy Mac and a nearly full hard drive.

Earlier this week, I also finished up another rescue, although a bit newer - a 2007 24" iMac that someone at work had sold me for $25. It had received a surplus of lightning and although it still chimed and sounded like it booted, it did not appear to do much else (I helped them get thier files off of it).
I had determined that the graphic card was bad and got a re-chipped 2008 8800GS for $300, taking the Graphics from the original 256MB to 512MB. I put in the card last weekend and the iMac started right up. I still can't get over the display size on that (I'm pretty sure a 27" one would blow my mind). I Cleaned the HD, added some more memory and installed Lion.
Overall, a pretty good week...
