I'm rocking a 2013 Mac Pro to run my K40 laser cutter :). Fun use for the machine, runs lightburn fantastic.

Anyone else using their Mac Pros for real use?

My A1289 is my daily driver... With the Dynasty build of Firefox, it works with 99% of websites currently online, even though I'm still using 10.9.5 as the main OS.

Yep, got the 4,1 here with 5,1 firmware it'll stay with me for many years as it's the ultimate load it with backup drives and cards Mac I've got.

Right now, it's basically a dedicated Grand Theft Auto 5 system dual booting Windows 11/OS X 15.x and an ATI RX590 GPU. Recently picked up an EVGA GTX680 (the one that can be flashed), which I'll set up soon and see how it fares.

Mine originally was a 4,1 but the processor tray in it came from an actual 5,1 machine, so I wound up replacing the logic board with a 5,1 board. No longer runs the fans in MDD G4 mode.

@treellama locate the Firefox Dynasty 145.0 dmg and use that with your 6,1 for when you need to get online with it... It's nice being able to use sites like gmail without having the unsupported browser warning pop up.

I use my old 3,1 as my main DAW (or, rather, I would be if I ever get around to setting it up), but I'm thinking of maybe using my 4,1 (with 5,1 firmware) instead, since it's basically the same, but faster (it runs all the same software and my Pro Tools DSP cards work in it the same).

I recently discovered Firefox Dynasty too, and I use it on my main Mac desktop which is stuck running Mojave. However, since the original developer apparently went nuts and got himself banned, it's been picked up by a new developer and renamed Momiji. It's also now based on 140 ESR, so it's more stable and predictable.

Mine is running an old version of ArchiCad, used for personal use now. I stopped at version 22 on Mojave as I refused to get into their scam subscription system.

Apart from that, not much as my 2012 MBP 13” still does all my email, photos and music. If I hadn’t picked up a hand me down PC from work in 2016 I’d be dual booting my MacPro.

I’m not sure if it’s just my machine but after applying the GOP firmware patch I seem to get MCE errors booting just about any Linux distribution on the MP. Hardware test checks out fine…

Still love the machine, would prefer to have usb 3 on the front panel though.

I use my 5,1 as my daily driver. It's starting to get a little long in the tooth running 10.14, I'm thinking of trying OpenCore, just need to find the time to do a complete clone of the drive in case I need to recover the installation. I really should figure out a good USB 3 card for this thing too.
