So after my G4 lost it's ethernet port after a recent lightening storm, I was left with my 5 year old Windows laptop for internet use, but it bit the dust after overheating so I am forced to use my G3 700 iMac temporarily but the only web browsers on it were Safari 1(bad) and IE 5 (worse). Looking around I downloaded Camino 1.06, the highest version to run on Jaguar, but after a day of that it was showing a few glitches due to it's age. I started looking for an alternative that hopefully would be up to a higher web standard. iCab 3.05 was doable, but not updated for a year and a half. Firefox 2 is too resource heavy for Jaguar and my iMac, so that was out. I finally got around to checking out Opera, and guess what? Opera 9.6.4 DOES work under Jaguar despite being officially unsupported and is more recent than anything else out there. It makes me wonder why, if Opera can turn out an up to date browser that does not require Tiger, why can't anyone else?
