Web browser for OS X 10.2.8

So after my G4 lost it's ethernet port after a recent lightening storm, I was left with my 5 year old Windows laptop for internet use, but it bit the dust after overheating so I am forced to use my G3 700 iMac temporarily but the only web browsers on it were Safari 1(bad) and IE 5 (worse). Looking around I downloaded Camino 1.06, the highest version to run on Jaguar, but after a day of that it was showing a few glitches due to it's age. I started looking for an alternative that hopefully would be up to a higher web standard. iCab 3.05 was doable, but not updated for a year and a half. Firefox 2 is too resource heavy for Jaguar and my iMac, so that was out. I finally got around to checking out Opera, and guess what? Opera 9.6.4 DOES work under Jaguar despite being officially unsupported and is more recent than anything else out there. It makes me wonder why, if Opera can turn out an up to date browser that does not require Tiger, why can't anyone else?

Because they do....

Code:
MACOSX_DEPLOYMENT_TARGET=10.4 make
??

What is that supposed to mean? Are there others making a 10.2.8 compatible browser with up to date features?

(Oh Mr. Porter is the best Will Hay film EVAH!)

Panther is faster than Jaguar. On an iMac G3 700 MHz, I would recommend upgrading. This upgrade would unlock the ability to use more recent browsers, such as the latest Camino.

If I already had a copy of Panther lying around, I would, but if I'm going to have to spend money for it, I'd rather just get Tiger as a lot of things still aren't supported in Panther, like Flash 10 for instance, which is pretty much vital. I have enough extra memory sticks around here that upgrading RAM to offset some of Tiger's heaviness on G3 machines isn't really a problem.

I suppose I could also get either a plug in ethernet card or an Airport card for the G4 as a solution. I also have access to an eMac that would be an upgrade for a good price if I really want it, so I could go that route which might be better.

I think it would be best to just buy an airport card for your iMac. I have a relative who installed an airport card after her Ethernet was destroyed from lightning, and it worked just fine. I'm not sure about the web browser though. IE 5 and Safari 1 are out dated, but you could try Opera 8. Opera 9 only supports Panther and above.
