Hello MLAers! We've re-enabled auto-approval for accounts. If you are still waiting on account approval, please check this thread for more information.
Um no. Maybe run one with the very lowest OS (System 6) and the other with MacOS 8.1 (via Wish I Were) and practice networking between them? Retro Nubus rigs - one for video, one for audio? Honestly, I don't know.
I collect Nubus cards and accelerators, so my IIci/IIcx units are used for either video editing setups or to play around with accelerators and various Nubus cards. What you do with multiple systems is up to you.
Could be you leave one unit stock with OS 6 and 8MB of RAM and use the other to upgrade it over time?
If you have a few other Macs and are looking for a competent personal file server, the IIci makes a fine choice. I once connected one to a bunch of Classics with 40MB internal drives so I could take advantage of the IIci's larger drive for file storage. Not sure if you have any networkable programs, but it would be a good choice in this respect as well. (I had actually intended to find some networkable software, but never got around to it).
Check the manufacturer of the power supplies in each IIci. If they both have Astecs (more common and less reliable), you may wish to avoid server use until you can play around with the power supply to correct the defect. Take a look at this link, which explains everything: http://www.shobaffum.com/iici/trickle.pdf
