When I was a young Mac-head I recall saving paper route money to buy a SCSI CD-ROM drive that had 2 parts. One could be a standard battery powered audio CD player, and a rear section that took MORE AA's (I think 6 more AAs?) and had the SCSI ports on it.
When put together it sort of look looked like a discman that was twice as long.
I recall it was dark grey in color (similiar to PowerBooks of the time), and the CD eject button was purple. It wasn't a major brand peripheral, I've come across something similar by panasonic.
Any one else remember this thing?
