Trading Post Feedback System

I really think we should have some sort of feedback system for the trading post. I have had a good experience with someone who sold me a Mac TV case, and no way to really show it. I guess I feel a little weird sometimes buying something from someone who I know nothing about. If I could just see what other people have to say, I think that would make things easier.

Maybe there could be a feedback sub-forum in the trading post forum, and where people could have a thread just all about them. Then when selling or buying, they could link to each other's threads?

I think something like this would make 68kmla a more friendly place. I don't know if anyone has ever been scammed here or not, but it's bound to happen eventually. This way we can at least "kind of" keep track of that sort of thing, maybe feel safer buying from someone who has had a good record.

People who get a bad deal tend to be the ones who want to post about it, you don't need a feedback section for the low volume of trades that happen here.

How do you find those posts, though? You can't easily see the history of trades. I just think it would be helpful if people had one place they could leave comments, good or bad about trades they made.

Of course this system would be easy to fool, though. There's no real restriction on how many accounts you have. You could just use a different account if something went bad, or do a bunch of fake positive trades, etc. So I guess it wouldn't do much good.

I guess it would just be nice to have something, because the way it is right now, anyone could post something about some Mac for sale, somebody pays for it, and then they just never send it out. There's not really anything preventing that from happening other than people just being honest, which I think for the most part they are. But some definitely are not, that's what worries me a little.

I'm against using this sort of system because of the drama it has created on eBay. I once got a threatening message from someone who left me negative feedback (which was justly given since the seller sent something in very poor condition when it said excellent) and have heard that I'm not alone in getting the feedback.

I don't think this would make the forum a friendlier place; I think it would just create a lot of drama.

If someone has a problem with a particular seller, the best way to do it is handle it with that seller alone. Work it out amongst yourselves--sometimes people have a valid reason for not getting their stuff out as quickly as they want to (could be illness, death in the family, broken vehicle, weather-related conditions, etc).

Also, when there is a problem with an item arriving broken, chances are it's the post office's fault. I know a lot of us on here can talk about that. (I've found solid styrofoam generally works best for padding--used some of that just yesterday on a Classic).
