System Enabler 411

I just received a 6500 motherboard that i have put in my 6400. The 6400 had 7.5.3 on it. But when i booted up, it said it was not compatible. I tried looking for the System Enabler 411 for this machine, but Apple doesn't have it. Any ideas as to where i could find this enabler for download?

The 6400 does not work with 7.5.3, with or without an enabler. You need 7.5.5 with the enabler or you need to go out and find a copy of 7.6.1. I'm not sure if Apple's 7.5.5 update would have the enabler with it.

7.6.1 may be your best bet, check not only eBay but also vendors like WeLoveMacs.com, many of them tend to stock NOS versions of the OS.

It is true that when an enabler is needed, as with 7.5.5, the 6500 needs 411. However, the 6500 does not support 7.6 at all, although 7.6.1 is supported.

This is not the least reason for skipping to 7.6.1 for most PowerPCs.
