I set up a Synology ds212j NAS earlier on in the year and I was able to log on to it from Mac OS 9.2.2 with no difficulty.
Now I'm getting the following error message:
'The user authentication method required by this server can't be found.
Please check the Appleshare folder in the Extensions folder.'
I never remember there being an Appleshare folder in Extensions.
What I did see was the update to DSM 6.2.4-25556 on the Synology NAS in June.
Normally I run updates and don't read the full list of things being changed but I should have this time.
There was a fix to Netatalk.
How can I find out what version of Netatalk is running on the Synology ds212j?
Am I right in suspecting this update? If so, there must be others here on this site using QNAP or Synology NAS as a server for old Macs.
I would rather that the NAS was on the old Mac LAN rather than have an Internet connection to the old Mac LAN.
Do I need to reinstall a previous version of the Synology DSM?
