Strawberry Trayloading Imac

Dropped into a yardsale and spotted a sad looking Strawberry Imac sitting with a bunch of monitors. I asked the lady how much for the Imac. The price was the same for all of them, $5.00. Sitting on top of the Imac was a matching keyboard and two matching mice!! Once home I cleaned off the coating of dust, grime, stickers and their residue. Plugging it in it booting right up and I was surprised to see it was running O.S. 10.2. It is a tray loading 333mhz model with a 6gb hardrive and 160mb of ram. I was really pleased at how it looked after being cleaned up. It is an unusual colour. I will add some ram when I have some more time. It should speed it up a bit.

I think I remember hearing back in the day that Blueberry and Strawberry were the highest selling flavours, being trailed by Grape and Lime. Tangerine was the worst selling flavour - back when the 5 flavoured iMacs came out, Apple sold them to dealers in packs of 5, which had to be one of each flavour, so the dealers would often have Tangerine models build up that they couldn't move at RRP, so they were often discounted. Later on though, thankfully they changed that, and allowed dealers to order flavours according to demand.

But yeah, if anything, I'd imagine Lime and Tangerine would be the hardest to find.

Never actually seen a lime or tangerine iMac in real life... oddly enough those would be my first choice after graphite.

At my school we have oodles of BlueBerry/Bondi ones. It seems like they where the norm. My old school had TONS of colors. In the more recent days (When I used to go to that school 2005...) I remeber seeing a wall of colored iMacs because they where obsolete and Intel was moving in at the time. I recall going with a friend to ask what they where going to do with them (Intention= Get one for ourselves) They said that they where going to donate them to a charity. Those colored iMacs are still there and my old friend (Which is the same one who I asked about the iMacs with) says that they are still there, and that you can get one, but you have to sign a billion forms. My new school just throws old macs at me.

I now have a little collection of tray loaders! The Strawberry(pink) Imac is working well, I bumped the ram to 256mb, I use it on the net for a few days and then hitch up the Lime Imac for a few days and then swap in the Grape Imac. All of them are 333mhz models with 256mb of ram. They seem to be as fast as my Bondi Blue 350mhz Imac? Even though it has more ram and a 100mhz bus. I have the room to keep them all. If I had to choose just one to keep it would be tough!!
