Software for old Macs

I have many old Macs and I want to download some software from mid 80's to 2005.Where can I find software and download it?(ftp's or some links with direct download).

It's a touchy subject because there is a lot of gray area with copyright, site rules, and what not. But fret not!  There does exist a garden of apples that is said to hold a bounty of fruit.  I believe the apples are of the Macintosh variety.  One might google Macintosh Garden for a tour of the orchard and directions.

Jag at Jag's House (http://www.jagshouse.com/cds.html#sw) has CDs for sale of old utilities, shareware games and the like for System 6 that may interest you.

I have already ordered a copy for my IIfx.

That being said, there is a lot of software on the likes of eBay that is not at all expensive. Unless you are a hoarder (and I'm not one to comment), you'll only end up playing a few games over and over again (again, no comment). Once you know what they are, it's worth buying the boxed games, complete with manuals, and playing the game properly.

Furthermore, if you are looking for a specific game or genre, there are members here who will sell you their games (usually spares). The mailing list of Lowendmac.com is also a good place for making requests.

Lastly, Archive.org has all of the CD images of the magazine cover CDs of MacWorld and MacAddict. These came with many shareware games as well as demo versions of full games. The magazines (available there as PDFs) also have good reviews of the games on the CDs. There are also early copies of Mac Format (much to my pleasure) on the Macintosh Garden and hopefully more will appear.
