Sharing files from a floppy, part II

It's possible!

I managed to squeeze AppleShare, Ethernet and the JCRemote extension onto an 800K floppy for my Mac Plus

(which is connected to an ethernet network with an EN/SC).

I also put a copy of the JCRemote extension on my Mac Classic and was able to select the Plus's floppy in the Classic's chooser

and fetched files from the floppy with no problem.

See: http://web.onetel.com/~colingjones/fsfaf/index.html

I couldn't send a file back to the floppy as it only has 1K spare but this could be done

if I first made space by deleting some icons from the files on the floppy with ResEdit.

Nice one! JC Remote really does make life very easy as it's easier to install than all the usual file sharing software.

I have a hunch that floppy file sharing is also possible in System 7 using the "Network Access Disk" which contains a stripped system and the necessary sharing components. It's for HD disks only though so it won't work with the Plus.
