SE with Sad Mac error 00000000E 0000C000

Hello everyone, some times ago I picked up an old Macintosh SE from 1988. I had to repair ADB , replacement of ADB chip by PIC solution (by Tashtari) worked fine and i enjoyed.

Yesterday, it hangs while i was using it. Since that, it always display the same error at power on : 0000000E 0000C000

There is also some glitch lines on the screen.

Since i saw on the forum that’s 0000000E error could be related to a bad SIMM stick, i replaced all them by known working ones from my IIci, but the error persists and it’s still the same code.

Does anyone knows whitch chip i could suspect, or where i could start to investigate ?

You did not tell if you (or someone else) ever recapped the motherboard and the PSU. This is the first step when restoring a Mac from the 80s.
Is there any trace of leakges from the caps? A picture of the motherboard would also be useful.

"The Data Bus test failed. The Z field indicated the bad bit(s) as a 32-bit mask for bits 0-31, either a bad SIMM or a data bus failure."

But you might have an issue with the video as well. Inspect the logic and the analogue board carefully for caps leakages, especially under the chips even if the SE is not very prone to this issue but ...

Hi ironborn65. You’re right. This Mac does not seems to have been recapped before and i didn’t . I will before continuing to search te origin of the failure. The only things i’ve done were the battery replacement by a lithium cr2032 and the ADB chip replacement. Electolitics caps did not appear to have any leaks but they approximately have 40 years… I’ll do that.
