Just opened up my SE/30 from eBay today, it booted to a screen with lines on the top and checkerboard at the bottom (caps). I turned it off, then turned it back on to take pictures for this forum... it booted right up! The only issue is some flickering lines on the bottom and top of the display. I smacked it on the left side, and they went away. I kept tapping, and the screen went to all diagonal lines, then went away when I tapped it again. I would guess this is a cracked solder joint somewhere, but where? I also noticed the clip for the connector from the A/B to L/B was broken off, so could it be that?
If it helps, the video board wasn't connected to the CRT when I cracked it open. It could have been like that for years, or just thrown around by the shipping company. Could there be a loose wire on the video board, or could the pins on the CRT have oxidized enough to cause issues?
