Scored a perfect Powerbook

Aluminum 17" 1.67 on ebay for 460.00.

Not one scratch or any dents, which is a miracle b/c everyone i've seen looks like it was through the war...

AlBooks :D

Nice one mate. The AlBooks still have plenty of life left in 'em. I still use mine as my main laptop. That said, I'd never want a 17", as I can't look at one and say "Ooo! Now *that's* portable!" I'll stick with my 12" :p

It's the early 2005 model...

But I was really shocked that it doesn't have any dents or scratches on it... I saw the pictures on ebay but you cannot tell or I really do not go by the seller either... But to my surprise!

Also the battery say's 40 cycles only so the battery is either fairly new or the person who had this before me never used the Powerbook...

The 17" is portable... I bring it places, I had a 15" and same thing it portable.

The 12" are nice but a bit too small for me.

now there was a HP with, I believe a 21 inch screen that was a monster.. that's not portable at all...

Congrats in the Al-PB, an excellent machine!

May you and the PowerBook enjoy "peace and long life"

I enjoy the 1701A bit in the username

I've noticed that there seems to be ALOT of ebay sellers with powerbook g4's that were used as only desktops.
I think there's a lot of people in general, Mac or PC who buy laptops and virtually never move them from the desk.

I went out to a guy's house to install extra memory in his laptop. He says he bought it, put it on the desk and it hadn't moved since. (It was a Toshiba with XP and only 512 MB RAM. He was hitting swap after loading one program due to all the crapware. I cleaned off some of the crapware and upgraded him to 1.5 GB).

There was certainly enough room on his desk for a small form-factor PC or Mac mini, flat screen monitor, keyboard, and mouse. (He already had a mouse. He said he hated using the trackpad!)

Surely the individual items would be cheaper than a whole laptop - and probably faster at the same time, while having the capability of being modular.

This powerbook MUST of been used as a desktop replacement...

The G4 seems to be a long life CPU... I remember getting a PM G4 400mhz in 99... I don't remember if the G3 has a long useful life like the G4...

But the powerbook handles everything I throw at it...
