ROM-inator II SIMMs on a IIci with an Interware 68040 accelerator

Hi all,

I bought a Rominator II, which works just fine on my IIci.

Now I bought an Interware 68040-33 accelerator and sadly it’s not playing ball with the ROM, it won’t start.

I was wondering if by any chance there is a version of the ROM that may help in cases like this?

In any case, any help or suggestions will be much appreciated.

Best Regards from Australia.

It looks like there's a check in the firmware of the Interware 040 accelerator that explicitly checks for the IIci ROM checksum.
Also just like the Turbo040 the ROM on the Interware card itself is mapped into the area where the ROM disk is located on most of those 3rd party ROMs.

Any reason you want to use one of the hacked together 3rd party ROMs over the stock IIci ROM?

The only reason is to skip the ultra long time it takes to boot with 80mb of ram, other than that, nothing else

Ha, gotcha.
I take it the Interware card works just fine once you remove the Rominator and switch to the onboard ROMs?
If it does so then this is your solution. These changes disable the startup RAM test and disable the checksum routine in the ROM, so the actual checksum can stay the same as on an unmodified IIci ROM which in turn will make the firmware on the Interware card happy.

Right that looks good, and yes, it all works fine when using the onboard ROM and card.

I have never edited a ROM, I just found the guide on another page, I'll try and report back.

Thanks a lot for the replies @Bolle , I know you're a busy guy.
