Rom-inated 512K

Yeah, that true. I would sell pre-assembled kits if it made sense. But since installation requires soldering anyway, a kit is the only practical solution. Rob Braun is selling Mac Plus systems with his version of a ROM kit already installed, if you're looking for something like that.

i'm a little envious, I want a bootable rom in my 512k but i just won't fit (it's got a MacGusto II upgrade board and the rom chips are scraping the chassis as it is.... )

Maybe i'll just have to cut the difference and install a internal Scsi2SD in it :)

haha that would be kinda sick :)

Wow, LOVE the photography! Especially the up close shots, those types of pictures are my favorite.

What keys do you press to boot from ROM again? I should know this but my brain deleted it.

I don't think I can pull off the video tonight... because I haven't shared videos. Ever. In my life. lol  (that would require youtube right??)

But here's the .6sec file I used if you want to hear what it sounds like :)

TurkeyGobble

I think I may try to do the Pirate "arrrrr" sound so it goes with the Pirate icon.

Unfortunately all the Pirate sounds on the web I came across seem to cost real-life money, so i may have to try and create it myself. The horror! :D

Alternatively, I do have a clip of a Zombie going "brainzzz" which would be fun to use if I updated to icon to the zombie. LOL.

EDIT: My co-worker just helped me out with recording an ARrrrr on iPhone, so I'm all set with that lol. Good use of work time.

Well, if Uni had done it with sockets, would it have cleared, height-wise, in a 512k case? From those pics it looks like there is literally no room.

All my ROM-inator boards are socketed, and fit my 512K system. The extra clearance is almost zero, but more than zero is all it needs!

Well, if I ever get a fancy upgraded 128k or 512k, my goal would be to load Color QuickDraw, SCSI, and HyperDrive support in-ROM, then I'd install a HyperDrive, external SCSI, and a Radius PowerView for a super fast, SCSI based, color Macintosh 512k. :D

OK, I updated it with the Arrr we made earlier. lol. here's the video link if anyone seriously cares.

There's a very brief hiccup at the end of the arrr... not sure why. The recording is .65 seconds in length. I don't think I noticed it with the TurkeyGobble because it sounds kind of like the gobble. not sure right now. I might shorten the recording to see if that gets rid of the blurp.

EDIT and now Dropbox seems inaccessible. sigh.

I'm betting you have a lot of pet-peeves. Make a list for me and I'll work on making your life miserable.

:D
