Restoring an Apple 30" Cinema Display

Mine works but is kind of dim (brightness buttons are unresponsive) and there's also an occasional vertical line.

I see a few videos on YouTube about replacing motherboards but I don't see the point of replacing old failing components with other old potentially failing components.

I'm pretty confident re-capping though...has anyone had any experience re-capping or replacing other components on any of the three internal boards?

Vertical line is caused by failing LCD panel, so nothing will fix it, except replacing it with a different panel.
