Repairing a CD300i CD ROM drive

It has gradually stopped working, causing my hardware to hang on stratup. Since some of my old hardware only accepts these old drive types I need to have it working. Will it be possible to try and rescue it / repair it?

You could try checking the circuit boards for failed/leaky caps?

Also, the laser pickups on many old drives have begun to fail, so that could be an issue as well.
