Removing the Hard Drive in a Color Classic

Anyone know if a good way to remove the hard drive in a Color Classic other than removing the entire analog board like the service manual seems to indicate?   This page seems to indicate that you simply push up on the plastic tab and pull the drive towards you: https://systemfolder.wordpress.com/2010/05/21/cc-hd/

  I wanted to make sure this is correct before I start yanking on things (especially the power cable with this half-assed way of doing it).

unplug the wires, move them below, push tab up and pull towrds you.  But at this age a long long allen wrench to push up andf hook that sled a little to pull is a good idea as the plastics "stick" together and makes breaking it loose a little tough with just your fingers.

I tried pulling the tab up and pulling but it didn't budge and I didn't want to break anything. Maybe I didn't pull it up enough? How do you know when it's free to pull?

you can see the tab you pulling it off of just like any other mac hard drive sled.  Again its gonna be stuck.  I have had to remove the whole drive assembly from the front to push it from the opposite side before.  You for sure are probably gonna break the tab off of it, but they are pretty common to macs so you can get another pretty easy if breaking the tab bothers you.

I used pliers to lift and pull the first couple times. I somehow managed to do it without breaking the tab. The trick is to lift only as much as is required to bring the protrusion out of the slot, maintain that and pull. I found that rocking the sled left and right while pulling with the tab lifted was the ticket. If you don't use a tool, you may just end up with bloody knuckles and frustration. As Macdrone says, the plastic seems to bind up between the sled and the chassis. It takes some pulling force to break it free. Before success with the pliers, I was sure I wasn't lifting the tab enough, but that wasn't the case; the tab only needs to be lifted 5mm or so.

I got it out. I just needed longer pliers. Came out fairly easy after that.
