Radius Telecast Nubus CARD

If anyone wants to upgrade their old Radius Videovision Nubus to Telecast (and has the big breakout box with cables) here is your chance.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/151055712335?

I snagged one, hope there wasn't something supposed to be connected to the back of the card. At least he includes the connection to the Videovision.

The telecast unit has a fairly massive break-out associated with it that you plugged both cards into. You only have two thirds of the pie, unfortunately.

Its the same breakout cable used in the PCI version (which I have). The PCI version had an adapter because the Videovisions connectors were slightly different.

The same guy from ebay is selling the same gear on LEMSwap (breakout cables and boxes are available there).

I posted here because the Telecast Nubus card is the hardest part to find anymore. You also need the latest ROMS (1.4 I think) on the Videovision card for the setup to work (and the Videovision card has to have all the daughterboards connected).

Is there any utility in having the VVS and the Telecast card and not having the big black Telecast box? I bought the whole Telecast system from Robert many years ago, and the black telecast box included the Telecast NuBus card. I already had the VVS with two daughter cards.

Sadly or happily, with all the advances in technology, we'll probably never use it. I was going to use it to archive old 3/4" (? giant cartridges like they used in the early 70s and at TV stations) video cassette to digital formats.

So, I have the entire Telecast system in its large box in my attic and it occurs to me that I should get rid of it before I'm too old to haul that ridiculously heavy box out of the attic, without stepping through the sheet rock.

Oh, a little searching found this page:

The Telecast card just interfaces the Videovision to the digital section of the black box. The Black Box itself is just buffered inputs and outputs from the looks of it (multiple types of analog video, analog and digital audio, sync signals, etc).

I had the PCI version of the telecast for over a decade now and rarely use it because I have a dozen or more editing systems that I have collected over the years (Various AVID, Supermac, Matrox, Media 100, Truevision, Rasterops, DPS, Optibase, etc). If I wanted to dump a VHS to digital I would probably use a Matrox RTMAC on a Mac or something similar on a PC (modern and quick).

For me its just fun playing around with the editing hardware and software and comparing it.
