Powermac G5 2.3Ghz dualcore

Got an Powermac G5 2.3 Ghz dualcore, 2.5GB RAM, Superdrive, 320+160GB HD, GeForce 6600, small bend on the front leg, just like my current 1.8Ghz single has. That's why it was cheap. I might even have bag of PC2-4200 DDR2 SDRAM's around somewhere.

Been looking for replacement of my single 1.8Ghz, wich now is looking for a new home. Maybe some of my friends, or their wives, would like to have an first mac. Seems to be almost an hobby to look introduce people to mac and OSX now. "Even" it would be PPC at first.

8-o jebus that would be fast! Thanks for the note, that's now fixed. I found box of 1GB, PC2-DDR2-5300 memory-modules. Let's see when i get the machine if those work with G5. I can possibly fill all the slots with RAM then.

Yes indeed! Those RAM's worked fine, expect two modules wich i trashed and used the KINGSTON-modules instead wich came with the machine in the first place. Now running OSX 10.5.8 with 8GB of RAM. The machine is remarkably fast, compared to single 1.8Ghz.

720p works fine thru youtube and 1080p also when downloaded as quicktime and played with VLC. Better graphics card would be nice also. Luckily the stock card is passive cooled so it's quiet. Would be really interesting to try what improvements the SSD-drive would bring along, just not worth the upgrade i guess, unless would buy one, and then try it out with the Powermac beforing installing it to my Linux laptop.

Still dreaming about Quadcore 2.7Ghz Maybe someday.

This is something that I always wondered if it would work.

The Quad 2.5 is a machine with two CPUs that each have two cores, Yes?

The Dual 2.7 is a machine with one CPU that has two cores, Yes?

Would it be possible to take two of the Dual 2.7 modules and replace those in the Quad 2.5 to make a Quad 2.7?
