Powerbook G4 12" and Accessories

This is my best conquest in some time.

Recently I posted in ehmac.ca (Canadian Mac Forum) replying to a classified ad where someone was offering another user a PBG4 for the cost of a ferry trip. The guy was a bit weird in his reply, so I snuck in and said I would take it if he doesn't want it.

It ended up that this guy had 2 PB G4s he didn't need anymore. I was offered the same agreement.

I met this morning with the guy and he had the following:

Powerbook G4 12" 867mhz/1.12GB RAM/40GB/Combo/Wifi/BT

PB PSU

3.5" 250GB external FW HD

2.5" 10GB FW/USB External HD

Assorted Cables

I haven't tested the HD, but the powerbook appears to be working great (I am typing on it now).

In the end, he waved away the money I had. So my $25 Powerbook ended up being free!

That's a good conquest! 12" Powerbooks are very nice and valuable when in working condition. I have my eye on such as well  but so far owned 12" iBooks only.

Pretty cool! I bought a 12" PowerBook G4 867 MHz almost as soon as they came out. It replaced my graphite iBook G3 466 Mhz (firewire). I love the size. I used it until about a year and a half ago when the hard drive died. Haven't bothered to repair it yet so it's just sitting in the basement currently. I got my current 13" MacBook Pro in December of 2010 so I haven't had much of a need.

I got a lot of compliments on the 12" G4. Everyone loved the size. I remember about two years ago living with a roommate who had a 17" MacBook Pro Core Duo (first gen, I think). I pulled out my 12" when he was using his 17" while the neighbors were over. They were all saying how much cooler looking mine was. Roommate was jealous of the attention my little old 'Book was getting over his newer, bigger faster beast.

One of these days I'll get new hard drives for both the PowerBook and iBook and put them back into commission. I think I may have a 10 GB for the iBook somewhere, but if I remember right that one is a bit more of a pain to replace. If I'm gonna do it I might as well put something bigger in. iBook needs a couple of keys and DVD drive cover too. Only other issue with the PowerBook is the screen latch is broken. Also I sold the PB power adapter, but those can be had easily and cheaply.
