Power Mac G3 B&W OS X Install Issues

Hello all,

I am having troubles installing OS X Puma on my Yosemite Rev 1 G3. I have an 80GB Western Digital drive connected to the onboard ATA connector, and have also tried it with a RAID card using the non-RAID settings, and a Sonnet Tempo Trio (Although using this one made the disk not even show up in the installer).

So, excluding the Sonnet card (which I have been able to boot OS 9 from previously), The disk will show up in the installer disk utility, but I am unable to install OS X to it. It shows the disk as unmounted and when I run First Aid on it, it spits out errors, but sometimes not at all. I HAVE some how been able to partially install OS X on a 4GB flash drive... I have no idea why that is possible, but not on a 80GB hard drive in the computer.

Any help would be appreciated. Pictures of the errors down below.

Have you been able to successfully run a repair on the disk in First Aid?  My other thought would be to check the Master/Slave/Cable Select jumper on the drive.  The drive should be set to Master for use on the logic board ATA controller, particularly as this is a Rev. 1 board which typically only work with one drive per channel, and doesn't properly support Cable Select jumpered drives.  As for the PCI ATA cards, I've encountered some that don't behave well with Cable Select either.

Turned out to be a bad hard drive, switched it out with a fresh 120GB and it worked fine. Also, it did help to have the jumper set to "master".
