PC133 Works in the iMac G3

Yesterday I found a stray 512MB PC133 RAM stick, so I installed it in my iMac G3 and it worked first try.
EveryMac says they only support PC100 RAM, but I guess the iMac slows it down so it supports it.
Just thought I'd let you guys know as it might work for you too.

In general, PC133 RAM is supposed to be backwards compatible with PC100 and PC66 as well. Our old iMac DV worked fine with two 512MB sticks of PC133 RAM, but my Blue&White G3 never properly recognized those same sticks at their full capacity.

I believe certain older memory controllers don’t fully recognize the more dense memory chips used in the 512MB RAM sticks.

These days, EveryMac is usually spot on with this stuff; I’ve yet to find a situation where it said something that turned out to be incorrect. You sure you were looking at the right iMac model? A lot of G3 iMacs look nearly identical, so it can be hard to tell the exact model sometimes.

Yeah, the one I did it in is an early 2001 Graphite (600MHz).
