original 233 iMac, Printing?

what do you guys think would be a good printer that should work with OS9 and USB? for the original iMac?

any suggestions would be appreciated!

I don't know if there's any currant printer with OS9 drivers. My old Brother HL-2040 laser printer came with OS9 drivers. Also has drivers available for OSX from 10.2 to 10.8. Lots of used ones available

I had an Epson SC740 with my Bondi blue.

Was it a good printer from todays view?

No, but it served me well, back then. Some of the models were even available in Bondi blue too.

I dumped my last SC740 some time ago, as nobody seemed to want one any more.

The direction I'd probably take is to use a networked laser printer. You'll get a longer-lasting machine that produces better images and works with almost everything in your house. It's nice to only have one printer, because printers are evil.

Almost any older networkable Apple LaserWriter or HP LaserJet may be worth looking into. They'll suck down a lot of electricity, but certain models (LaserJet 4M/5M and the LWP630 or LW16/600PS come to mind) use EPIC toner cartridges which will print somewhere between ten and fifteen thousand pages, plus service parts for these particular printers will almost certainly never go away -- not to mention generic driver support for modern operating systems.

If you're looking for something more modern, and potentially color printing, I had/have a Xerox Phaser 6120 EN for a while, (I still have it but I haven't needed to print for years, so I never got it new carts.) -- It's an excellent machine, and it'll talk to almost any computer on the planet, between its Ethernet (tcp/ip and appletalk protocols), USB, and Parallel connections. It also accepts native PostScript or PCL commands, depending on the app or computer.
